Slow Download Speed

Hi, new here, I have an early 2011 MBP 13.5. Never ha any real problems in the past that i couldnt get sorted.
The reason I am posting is to get a feel for general Downloading speeds. I have noticed that purchases form apple itunes store are ridiculously slow as are updates. I have just purchased a TV series and it is giving me download times of 36 to 48 hours. This is not as it should be, would appreciate any feedback / advice form others experiencing such issues

Welcome to the forums.

You will need to provide a bit more info like ...
Are you downloading on WiFi ... if so what is your WiFi speed
What is your ISP contracted bandwidth ... run a speed test from speedtest.net
What OS are you on and do you have all the OS patches and firmware patches ( if any )
Is it slow only for download or also for normal web browsing.
Do you have any software installed that manages / controls network connections ?
