Should I download Mac Keeper? I do feel like my Mac is slightly slower than it was. Guess I'm concerned about creating new unanticipated problems.

No. Do not install that thing on your Mac. A quick search for the term "maintenance" and you will find:

Great review there and with a handy guide for already built-into the OS &/or free / better options.

Several months ago, these folks had a minimum of 3 separate user accounts simultaneously attempting to spam their software here. And they're still trying as they attempted to register yet again - today.
