Macbook won't charge, replacement battery on ebay?

Hello all, basically my macbook battery has had it. It will no longer charge my laptop and the battery indicator remains at 0% and whenever the charger is removed from the laptop it turns off.

Anyway so I've done some research on the net and it seems this is a common problem and like most, my laptop is about 19 months old so will not be covered by warranty. I rang Apple technical support and they said all that I could do was purchase a new battery.

Reluctant as I may be to purchase a new one only for it to break in another year I am a student and cannot afford to purchase a new mac.

I have seen many batterys for sale from UK sellers on Ebay but I am wary as to performance of the batteries bought from here. Has anyone had any first hand experience with buying Macbook batteries off ebay? Is it worth dishing out £99 for a new one off of Apple store?

Oh and I forgot to add, my Cycle count was 723 which I hear is very high but I don't really believe that I have misused my mac at all.

If anyone could offer any advice on the matter at all or suggest what to do with the whole ebay situation I would be very greatful!

I would avoid generic batteries in general as they are known to catch fire and cause other problems.

Either get a genuine battery or replace with one of these:

shipping shouldn't be that much......check it out before you write it off. The batteries should give you a good few years!
