Finally getting rid of my iBook G4 and I think I'm going to go for the refurbished route to save a little bit of money. Just wanting some input on what my fellow mac people think is a better deal. I would like the larger screen but I'm currently on a 12" so either is an upgrade. It really come down to the components. What do you guys think?! Both are $1499(CAD)

Then I'd go for the 15"

You can always add more RAM, you can't add a bigger screen.:)

Does this refurb also have the 9600 GT built in?

Hope this helps

Great deals. The Refurbished macs all come with warranty and can purchase additional applecare. Brand new pretty much just no shiny box. Go with the 15" you wont regret it.

Thanks for the inputs! I have been leaning towards the 15" but was just seeing what people thought about the difference in processor speeds, etc. Although coming from a 1.33Ghz G4 processor, I'm sure I will be quite fine with the 2.4 instead of the 2.53!

go with the 15 all the way.

Yes you will get a little bit of a faster processor but its not that much of a deal breaker to go with the 13" because of it. Trust me people on here all the time say how minimal the difference is unless you are doing some hard core rendering and such. However I have been on my moms 15" that has a 2.4 and I have the 13" 2.23 and there isn't much of a diff at all. So I say go with the bigger screen. You can add ram later and that is a sweet price. Grab it while you can. Only reason I didn't go 15" is because its all I could afford with student loans. And thats really cool that it has the 9600m GT in it.

But again lemme stress that going from 2.4 to 2.53 will not be that noticeable. You won't notice at all. and going from 1.33 to this new intel cor 2 duo will blow your mind. Everything is just smooth as silk. I love it.

If it were me, I'd go for the 13.3". Screen size isn't important to me, the difference between 13.3" and 15.4" isn't much. You'll be gaining an extra 2 gig of RAM and just that little bit more portability. and for what it's worth, an extra 0.13GHz in processor speed.

That should be a DDR3 machine on the 15". If you're a gamer, that's the one you want as it has the dual video cards.

Thanks for the input! I really figured I wouldn't notice too much of a difference between the 0.13Ghz upgrade. Especially not when compared to the difference I will be noticing coming from a G4 processor and 768mb of ram!

Is there any added quality speed related or anything or do you just like bigger screens? I personally like having a smaller screen so it isn't that heavy and it is more portable.

See you guys are using personal opinions on what works for you... I am trying to be unbiased on what I have and what my needs are. and saying "OH BIGGER SCREEN GET IT!" is a little on the unimformative side... Just because its bigger doesn't mean its better and just assumes the OP is just made of money.

However I still say stick with the 15" as from all my postings on specs and such...

Isn't that what the O.P was aiming for, our opinions?

Judging from his first post he's aware of the facts and the specs.

In my "opinion" posting that comment is just a little bit clutching at straws.

No harm done though:)

Respect...
