Macbook Pro Logic Board?

My brother has a 15" Macbook Pro Unibody which had an unfortunate accident where soda got spilled on the keyboard and got into the machine and it went dead and no longer powers on.

Now, we decided to take the machine apart, the logic board is obviously fried, we cleaned everything up. The machine is in perfect shape except for the fact that it doesn't have a logic board.

However the problem is, trying to find a 2.53 logic board.
A lot of eBay sellers are very shady. I looked into some repair services but I am not sure what places are reputable.

At this point I even thought about selling the machine itself with the dead board but I don't know if anyone would want it or how much they would pay for it.

If anyone has any info like where to get logic boards, reputable repair companies my brother would greatly appreciate it.

I also told him to invest in a laptop stand, these types of accidents are exactly why I keep mine off my desk.

You might check ifixit. Don't know if they'll have boards for late models or not.

Yep, they do, but only have the 2.4 in stock and it's $900.

Think I'd try to sell it on ebay, saying what happened in an "as is" sale. You might be surprised what someone is willing to pay for it.
Or you could part it out yourself. The bottom case, top case, etc.

I wouldn't touch buying this part on ebay with a 10' stick.

I checked there, they have a 2.4 not the 2.53, it says they do but when you click on 2.53 it brings you to the 2.4 so that's not exactly what was originally in his MBP. It's also $900, he was trying to find one slightly cheaper, which I don't know if it is at all possible.

Longshot, but see if your home insurance has Accidental Damage Protection, many good polices do.

You stated the Logic Board was fried. It's possible it may be repairable even though most of the components are surface mounted. Try a few Mac repair facilities to see if they offer Logic Board repair rather than replacement. It's possible you may be able to save $$ that way.
