Okay? Well to be fair the newer MBP does have a slightly faster CPU, and faster RAM.

4 seconds is nothing. >_>"

I know - I thought id test them whilst I had both available. I would love to see a 5400rpm hdd vs a 7200rpm hdd though.

from looking around they seem to get around 30seconds boot time with a good 7200rpm hd, a very nice improvment:)
some ssd's are about 15seconds tho!!!

Mine went from >40 to <28 seconds switching out the stock drive for the WD black 7200 with a cloned install.

Just tried it again, changing the machine to auto log-in and eliminating 3 of my regular startup items - was 24 seconds from the push of the power button to full usable desktop. This, on an install of the OS that was done within the first week of Leopard's introduction. I'd like to see that on an install of that other OS after it'd been running for 2 years and not spending 20% of your computing time tweaking and doing maintenance. And on a machine that's coming close to 3 yrs old now.

That is very impressive - I might have to invest in one!
