do usb flash memory plugs work between mac and PC????

can i save something created on a mac (say through office) to the usb flash memory ...unplug it ...and then plug it into a PC and read edit it ...and vice versa (ie save a document on a pc to the usb flash memory thing unplug it and then plug it into the usb of a mac and open and edit the saved thingy?)

Yes, they absolutely do. I haven't used one myself yet mainly because my office PCs are locked down, run NT 4 and therefore don't have USB support. But my sister has an iBook and a PC and uses one to move data back and forth.
