hi guys I have the above Mac mini and I'm wondering if I can put 8gb ram in there ?

as 4GB just don't cut it these days

it has a 240GB SSD running OSX High Sierra (thanks to dosdude1)

I just upgraded my late 2012 iMac with 32GB ram and it had 4 sticks of PC3 12800S in there originally all 4GB

will 2 of these work happily ?

as I don't want to tear the unit down to find that it won't boot

thanks

Jason

thanks Nick I thought seeing as I had some DDR3 Ram it would be backward compatible but I'm guessing its not based on the crucial spec for the ram ??

does ddr3 run at slower speeds if its supported ??

thanks

Sometimes it's not the RAM speed...sometime's it's also the design of the RAM. That little notch where the RAM stick pins are is sometimes put in a different position with different types of RAM...to prevent the use/insertion of the wrong RAM into the wrong/incompatible computer.

There's also a lot of time between a 2009 Mac-Mini and a 2012 iMac. If would be cool if the 2012 iMac RAM worked in a 2009 Mac-mini. Backwards compatability is usually very difficult to find...especially between computers that are this far apart in age.
