was that the first time (2011 iMac)?
not usually, but things can break even the well developed products.
I noticed my computers and electronics function better when plugged into a power strip.
hopefully that will be the last iMac repair!

Power supplies usually don't go bad prematurely...but can eventually go bad especially on older computers that have racked up lots & lots of hours.

If this is a 2011 iMac...it's probably accumulated a lot of hours of use. Also unnoticed electrical spikes over time can effect it too.

Congrats on getting it fixed & working again.:)
