So, is Mac-Forums only a help forum now?

Haven't watched the keynote yet. After watching a video about that new machine I have one question: Who's buying me one of those beasts? I'm willing to trade every hat the forum owes me. LOL

Too many...
I like the design, especially the 3D spherical machining. $6k though? Why does it cost that much for a base model? I'm sure a top spec model will most likely come close to $50k, but I'm disappointed in the base price.

Sometimes, it seems that Apple can't do anything right. But that isn't so.

People now have a choice of Desktops (including the Mini) from the very basic 21 inch, through a cascade of options to the new Mac Pro, via the iMac Pro - each model having its own selection of specifications.

Moreover, features found in top-of-the-line models often find their way down to cheaper models over time.

It seems to me that Apple has tried to cater for all needs across its model range; taking into account what you can afford, with trade-offs along the way. There's something for everyone.

Ahhh. I'll just have to live without it, somehow.

Nick told us if we see something interesting in the RSS feed to feel free to post it on the normal forums.

I am VERY impressed with the new Mac Pro. I can never afford one but it's a very powerful and nice machine. Finally Apple has given the Pros a top and upgradable Mac!

Also for editing 8k video it's the machine to own. It's really for pros and not for normal poor people like most here! :D Grin

Does this mean that the posts on the RSS feeds are NOT the same threads seen here, by clicking on "New Posts"?

Rob, we at the beginning had it so everyone saw the RSS feed posts but so many complained, we made it so you have to enable the RSS feed now before you see the Bots posts.

That is correct. If someone wishes to see the RSS posts (and have them appear in the "New Posts" area)...please check out this thread (posted in the "News and Community Announcements" section)::)

RSS News Part Deux

If you join the group...you will see a lot of extra threads/posts. Like any internet forum...some of the threads/posts will interest you...and some may not. Read the threads/posts you like...and don't read the others.:)

Thanks,

- Nick

No, I won't, until I can define it more. Too many I don't want, not worth my screen space. Will I see the thread, if I don't subscribe to RSS, and someone replies to it?

That's a good question Bob. I'm on my way out the door in a few minutes but I'll test that later on today and let you know.

As far as taking up screen space.... You can skip over the RSS and Deals posts if you like and after you read the other forum posts, you can select and mark the forums as read. All the RSS and Deals posts will then be removed.

I bet that doesn't work. Give me a few minutes Bob and I'll respond to a few of them and we can see what hapens. There is a thread about Siri being able to play / respond to third-party audio. Look for a post from me there.

To answer Bob's question: Unless you subscribe to the RSS feeds you will be unable to see not only the RSS posts themselves but also any replies to them.

However, to be fair, if an RSS feed item is important enough and is news we all would like to see, then I will repost it as a regular forum post.

The whole idea of RSS feed posts is to build interest in our forums and attract more members to participate.
