Hi Patrick, up to about 20 minutes ago I hadn't tried just the USB mouse on its own, but I have now and the problem has now GONE ! I now have full control and both the left and right clicks are operating correctly. I then switched on the Logitec bluetooth mouse along with the USB and they both worked correctly, then the Magic Mouse and would you believe that I have all 3 that now operate correctly. They all work when they are all switched on/connected and they all work when the other 2 are switched off.

Do you realise that you have just stopped me having to have a lovely shiny new iMac Retina :D Well, at least for now?

I use a Magic Trackpad on our MacBook Pro Bob, but I do very little editing on there. I have to admit that I hadn't thought of it for photo editing? I use the Magic Trackpad along with the original small bluetooth keyboard, that came with the iMac, both on the MBP. That's so as the MBP can be a bit higher with the keyboard and trackpad at a comfortable level. It's a great help for my neck arthritis by not having to look down too much.

I can't believe just how this problem has just disappeared like that?

Sorry about that Jon, but I'm sure glad to hear that everything is working properly.

PS: Just think, You could've ended up spending all that money for a new iMac and still ended up with the same problem!!!

I have to admit that it never dawned on me to ask about multiple mouse connections. It would seem to me that they would conflict. What would the system do if you press the right key on one mouse and the left key on the other? Or moved one left and one right at the same time? I do think the system is not really designed for multiple input like that. I'm not surprised, now that I know you have multiple devices like that, that it got hung up. I'm surprised it worked at all.

And I was wondering the same thing about Bob's comment and his #19 post:
And I also use two mouse at the same time.

I guess whichever device registers its click first gets the action. Computers are pretty fast that way.

So here is a thought problem for you, Patrick. Two mouse setup. Move one right while at the same time move the other left. What does the cursor do? And if you move one right, simultaneously move the other left, then stop the one moving right, what happens? I ask that second question because if you are correct that the "first" gets the action, which is first in movement? And if the "first" stops, does the second take over, or is the second permanently blocked? And if it is, how does it gain control again if I do want to use it? My brain hurts from just trying to imagine how it would EVER work!

Heh, just tried an experiment with my mouse and trackpad. Moved the mouse left, dragged my finger on the trackpad left. Cursor vibrated, moving a bit in each direction. And a click on the trackpad (essentially a left-click) and a right click on the mouse at the same time resulted in a right click only, never a left click. So maybe the mouse has priority over trackpad. Who knows????

Thanks Jake, but no go, my brain's too tired after dealing with too many dying or kaput computers, drives and cables yesterday and today.

And some other wierd Migration Assistant stuff, my old grey matter needs a rest and a break.

After a good night's kip I have come to the conclusion that one of the bluetooth mouses had an electronic fault that kept the left key pressed and switching them both off has reset the fault. I think that I was too relieved and confused to realise that last night?

I have just tried it by pressing, and holding, the left key on one mouse and trying the left key on the other and hey presto, the same or similar fault:Cool::Cool::Cool:

So now I will wait and as/if/when it happens again I will switch one off and see what happens?

A for using multiple mouses? The system doesn't seem to care just how many there are. I have used 2 as I described above for years now with no problems.

As you said Jake, moving one to the right and the other to the left just makes the cursor jiggle left and right doesn't it ;D

Edit : - I forgot to say just now. Thank you all for your help and ideas. Once again you have been a great help at sorting out another problem for me!

Time to garbage that malfunctioning Mouse into the recycle bin before it causes any more frustrations and you forget it had a problem.

Ah, but which one Patrick? This is one that I doubt I will forget and if I can't spend £1,000 plus then I can't afford to throw away a good, if it is, Magic mouse init already ;D

So what I will do is to sneak up on it and see if I can catch it unawares. A mouse trap so to speak?

Now, if I could find a driver for my Wacoms bluetooth graphics pad with the pen and mouse, then that would be great! They still do them with the pen, but not both and SWMBO much prefers the mouse.

I only use the Magic Mouse minimally. Sometimes my Logitech bluetooth looses connections, for a couple seconds, use the MM1, until I see the Connected overlap. Then I start using the Logitech again. I've accidentally bumped one mouse while using the other, and the icon grows, like when it gets "shaken", to see where the mouse is on screen. No harm, not a conflict, one thing is recognized before the other.

That's one of the main reasons I avoided any Bluetooth Mouse besides the lag many of them suffer from, but never any such problem with my Logitech USB Wireless Mouse, and I just realized I've been using them for eight years now after my Logitech wired USB mouse started to go goofy and I considered going wireless.

Thankfully, Costco was selling the Logitech M705 on sale for $30.00Canadian and I thought I'd give it a try. Apple's own wireless mice were gosh awful around that time. And gee, I still don't like then and they just don't work as they should when I use them. ;D

Now I think about it I am essentially using the same, or very similar, setup on our MBP. That's because I have the MBP trackpad and a Magic Trackpad on it. Add to that I have 2 keyboards too, the MBP one and the bluetooth job that arrived with the iMac.

As I said earlier that set up is so that the MBP can be on a stand that I made to lift it to ease the strain on my neck. That has worked perfectly from day one and it seems very strange when I move the MBP, say to the kitchen, and don't use the bluetooth bits.

I have to admit that I haven't noticed any lag with any of the bluetooth kit, but that's possibly due to my slow reactions and overworked brain cell?:Sleeping:
