Nick great point, I’ve noticed a lot of 5400 drives or they just don’t even list drive speed just what usb is capable of. Footprint isn’t as much of an issue as desktop clutter, I know that sounds petty. I have also been reading from people reviews that some do complain little about noise but with my hearing probable isn’t an issue more concerned with drive longevity.

As far as hard drives go...the most common drive rotational speeds seen for at least the past 8-10 years or so are/were...5400rpm & 7200rpm.

When I saw this Seagate 4TB drive the other day when I was shopping with a rotational speed of 5900rpm...I thought it was rather odd:

Nick just ordered Two Voyager S3 with 2.0 tb drives from OWC on sale for $99 each. So now I have an extra unit plus two 2tb drives for all my stuff. I thought that was a great deal from everything I've been looking at. Thanks again for suggestion.
When I read you post on a 5900 drive I just figured it was a typo, that is an odd speed. Would like to pass on the deal from OWC to other member's but don't know how that's done, they are offering a bunch of other stuff too.

Are these the 2TB drives that come with the swappable dock?

Nick, yes. Two bases and each has a 2tb 7200 drive. I sure that should hold me for while. I couldn't believe it when I got an e-mail with all these sale items and I have been looking for a while and thought this was gonna be the biggest bag for the money.

Thanks Kenny...just wanted to confirm. While I'm a longtime customer of OWC & I almost always recommend them...they don't exactly have the best deal this time around with what you're purchasing. I got my 2 x 2TB 7200rpm drives for $55 each ($110 for both) + one swappable dock ($30). Grand total = $140.

And looking online...the 2TB 7200 rpm drives could be gotten for even less than I paid for them (locally).

    Just an FYI.

Nick, that's a great deal for 140. I don't feel to bad though, I paid 198 with an extra base included. As you know you can chase your tail forever looking for deals. Locally not to much here not complaining just has gotten to a point that online works for me most of the time and OWC has a great reputation but doesn't mean the best price either.

As long as you're happy with your purchase Kenny...that's all that matters.

Was only pointing out that you could probably get the exact same items (same hard drives & same hard drive dock) for probably $50 or more less than OWC....from other online retailers. I've been an OWC customer for over 20 years...and I almost always recommend them. But if I can get the exact same thing somewhere else...I got to to go for the lower price ($50+ dollars saved isn't chicken-feed).

My understanding is that B & H Foto & Electronics Corp. 420 9th Ave, New York, NY 10001 has become a great source with excellent pricing and often free delivery, at least for US clients. And especially for East Coasters I would think.

I have no connection with them, nor have I used them.

But they have a good price on the Newer Docks, as well as some other model selection choices:
