For 2017 27" 3.8 Imac. Any Recommendations?

I have no personal experience with it, but many folks have said that they really like this one:

Samsung Ultra-Slim Black Optical Drive, M-Disc Support, MAC OS X compatible (TSST SE-208GB/RSBD)
$33 plus free shipping

It both reads and writes.

If you only like genuine Apple stuff, they still sell their external Superdrive:
$79

I agree with Randy. The Samsung external optical drives are inexpensive and work well. I have one that I've used now for years - an older model but it still works with my 2017 5K 27" iMac.
