Hi. As you all know I just got a 2017 3.8 27" Imac and am wanted to buy some RAM upgrades for it as it comes standard with 8G I assume. While I would like to go all out with 64G I cant afford that right now so my question is how much is a good compromise? Will be doing some gaming, Graphic art and video editiong.
Also do I add it in 8G increments or 16G increments depending on how much I add? It has 4 slots right, so I assume there is just one 8G RAM chip in it?
Thx

I think my first question would be...what makes you think 8gig of RAM will not be enough?

As member Ferrarr mentioned...more than likely the RAM currently installed is 4gig x 2 = 8gig...leaving two free RAM slots for upgrading (without removing any RAM). Thus if you were to upgrade...I would purchase 2 x 4gig sticks of RAM (for a total of 16gig of RAM). Or...purchase 2 x 8gig sticks of RAM...for a total of 24gig of RAM.

Or (if your budget will allow)...purchase 2 x 16gig of RAM...for a total of 40gig of RAM.

But all of this RAM upgrading still depends on the question...do you REALLY need more than the 8gig of RAM currently installed.:)
