Hi everyone

I'm planning on getting a new 4K monitor to use with my MacBook Pro to edit video now that I have a couple of 4K cameras and am getting into the video side of things.

I'm happy that my MBP can handle 4K, but I was wondering whether the monitor would also work as a second screen with my late 2012 iMac. I know that I won't get 4K out of it, but would it work in HD?

thanks, Nick

thanks Bob

I went with a Samsung 4K monitor to link to my MBP only in the end :)

edit - whaddya know?!?!? I found a HDMI to thunderport cable and the iMac drives the Samsung display just fine. I don't think it's 4K but for use as a second screen it's more than OK.

As the Samsung has 2 HDMI ports, I can use it with both my macs just by flicking between HDMI 1 and 2.

Chuffed!! :)
