Hi. I have an iMac and a MacBook pro, and I'm looking at backup solutions. Is one Ext HDD enough to backup both computers? Would I need two EHDs for redundancy? Would you recommend an NAS drive in this case? If so, how would I backup the Macbook Pro when I take it out of the house? Thank you.

Welcome to our forums.

We recommend separate external drives for your iMac and MacBook Pro. One drive only is not good practice and can lead to problems if it's your only backup drive and it fails. In order to make backups of your MacBook Pro when you're away from home, I recommend a large capacity flash drive. Nowadays, you can buy them in 128GB and larger capacities. I also recommend using Carbon Copy Cloner as your backup software especially when away. You can use both Carbon Copy Cloner and Time Machine when at home.
