Most hard drive manufacturers warrant their products for at least 2 years and the premium ones for 3 years. I haven't seen anything as far as warranty is concerned for many of the popular SSDs. Anyone have an idea of how long most are warranted for?

I haven't checked lately, but it seemed that most of the better brands have a warranty of 2 to 3 years with the better brand models covered for five years. The cheaper SSDs seem to have all one to two-year maximum warranty.

It's interesting to read Western Digital's note:
Solid State Storage:
*SSD limited warranty period expires at the earlier of: (a) time period below; or (b) when the SSD exceeds its endurance limit(s) (see SSD specifications).

The "endurance limit" is interesting, especially if you read the article:
Speeds, Feeds and Needs – Understanding SSD Endurance
https://blog.westerndigital.com/ssd-endurance-speeds-feeds-needs/

The bottom line from that article seems to be, don't over-buy or under-buy the SSD storage one would normally be using, which can be quite expensive for the user if they go to far either way.

Neither did I know, that one can wear out an SSD before it's warranty has even run out.

Now how would they know that such a drive has been driven or used beyond it's storage endurance limitations if it dies before it's warranty time????

That certainly is a strange disclaimer. I know off hand that WD spinning drives are warranted for 3 years but "exceed its endurance" warranty is a new one on me. I guess that's why Apple uses Samsung SSDs in their machines. :)

I've always used WD Black HDDs and they've always had a five-year warranty.

And I certainly haven't "exceed their endurance". Nor did I "over purchase" as far as I'm concerned. ;D
