If i let my Mac pro 1,1 hibernate . when i try to wake it the fans immediately start to rise in rpm fast until they are at full speed after say 20-30 secs at which time it shuts down the computer , if i then try to reboot it will do it again .

But if i shut it down or restart via OS menu its fine which tells me its not a thermal grease issue whixh i would of done today but a vital screw if rounded off inside and i need a cutter to remove it .

If Patrck's suggestion bring no joy, try giving it a good cleaning out. In my Mac Pro days I used a vacuum cleaner with a rubber 'sticky beak' not to short anything out.

A good suggestion but best to keep both the Mac and vacuum hose end grounded as the air through the hose can generate fairly potent static charges, especially in some climates.

Or just keep holding any metal part on the hose with yourself being grounded.
