Yesterday my SDHC card reader wouldn't mount/read any of my SDHC cards.

I finally determined that there may be some debris on the pins in the card reader so My "fix" was to cut a piece of cardboard to the same width as the SDHC card but several inches longer so I could pull the cardboard in & out of the slot. I then covered the cardboard with a thin lens cleaning cloth after cutting it to same size as the cardboard. I covered both sides of the cardboard with the lens cleaning cloth, dampened it with alcohol then inserted both into the card reader slot & gently moved it in & out several times. I waited several minutes for everything inside the card reader to dry. My reader now reads/mounted my SDHC card. Apparently, I removed some debris from the card reader pins.

Welcome to mac-forums and that's pretty neat posting an excellent suggestion as your first post.

Thanks. I'm sure some can use it when needed.

Welcome to our forums.

The best way to clean out a dirty SDHC card reader slot is with a can of compressed air. Blow several blasts into the slot from a distance of 6". If that doesn't work, you can resort to your cleaning method.
