Just as I was planning to replace my old and not-so-powerful Mac Mini with either a used Mac Pro or a new MacBook Pro (today was the day I told myself I would decide) I came across this article:

https://www.macworld.co.uk/news/mac/mac-mini-2018-3472956/#toc-3472956-1

I have not seen this here in the US, but perhaps there is still hope for a new and more powerful Mini.

Hey Mike...I knew as soon as you heard about this...it might potentially throw a "monkey wrench" into your plans! lol

Actually this info REALLY shouldn't change your plans...since you moved away from desktop choices when you came up with the rational for purchasing a portable computer.:)

Thanks for the link.

p.s. "RavingMac" got you by a couple hours...he posted a story on this just a short while ago.

Yes. I know, and in fact I called the Apple Store to place an order this evening but found out it was going to take 10-12 days to deliver it and we will be out of town. This is something I would not want to leave at my front door for 2 weeks, so it will have to be when we return.

I'm pretty sure you can have it sent directly to your nearest Apple Store where they will hold it for you until you return. You might ask them how long they will hold it but there should be no problem with them keeping it for 2 weeks.

Have them send it my way Mike. I'll be glad to guard it for you for free. I might even be able to scare up a gator or two to help. Of course you might have a bit of difficulty getting it away from them but we can cross that bridge another day. Lol.

Gee Slydude, I thought you just had mainly alligators in Louisiana and most of them I understand are more commonly found in the South Louisiana parts.

As if I could tell the difference if one was charging me… :Smirk:

I live in Arkansas, and they are actually pretty common up here, their range extending almost to the Missouri border. Though, admittedly, they thin out rapidly north of Little Rock. Have seen a number of 6 to 10 footers over the years.

We don't have as many here in North Louisiana as they do a bit farther south but they are present and can be just as agressive/dangerous. I've run into several people in recent years who do not believe they are here. Just because you haven't seen one doesn't mean they aren't present.
