I am replacing the display on a 2015 iMac 21.5". I believe it had a 1.8ghz processor and the replacement/upgrade is also a 2015 iMac 21.5" but with a 2.8ghz. Anyways everything lines up and looks identical, installed great, and then when I went to reconnect the display I ran into what appears to be a major snag. The new connector for LCD is slightly larger (about 1/4 inch) than the old connector. I am guessing that the larger ribbon is for a retina display? Can someone let me know what the best solution to this is. Should I just order new logic board or order a new display? The glass on this model does have a slight chip in it.

The original is approximately 3/4" connection and new is approx 7/8"

There were 2 models for the 21.5" 2015 iMacs. One was Retina 4K, the other standard. You can not switch displays nor the logic board since the connector is different for the display. You need to decide which model you have; Retina or standard? And order the correct logic board. If the glass has a chip on it, the entire display will have to be changed out as the glass is glued to the display and can not be separated.

Do you know which has the larger ribbon cable?

Edit: I confirmed by serial that this is the non-retina version. Thank you for your help.
