I just ordered a 27" iMac, and I am quite excited for it. I really kinda wanted to put a stand underneath it so I could raise the height of it slightly and could use some of the extra real estate on my desk.

I currently have this U-Board which I read isn't that good for the iMac because it's so heavy and the glass will actually bow.

I was looking at this SlimKey V2 however people say with the 27" iMac even it bows. So I'm not sure if there is anything else out there similar to these just a but more sturdy for the 27" iMac.

You know what I'd do Josh if I needed to. I'd get the VESA adaptor for the back of the iMac and get a floor or wall mounted stand and take it off the desk completely.

There is another option, you can get the rear mount for the iMac from the Apple Store

Twelve South BackPack Adjustable Shelf for Mac Desktops - Apple Store (U.S.)

for any externals (or keyboard) and place you wireless keyboard onto the base of the stand itself when you're done.

VESA mount info here http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD179ZM/A

I would love to do a VESA adapter and mount it to the wall but I really can't mount it on the wall where I am renting right now, floor...maybe but I've never seen a floor stand like that. I can't do a mount on my desk either because it's glass. It's not a big deal but I wanted a fairly cost effective way of doing it.

I was originally looking to get myself a 15" MBP but I decided I wanted the power the iMac offered and having a 27" screen is pretty bad *** IMO. So I am pretty stoked anyway.

i was tempted into buying the slim key you mentioned in the OP.. i didn't actually find any review that said it bowed.

if you decide to go the cheaper route let me know, my desk is an almost antique sewing table. sturdy as **** but short on table top space, and drawers.

I haven't seen a lot of reviews on it with people who are using a 27" iMac. I did notice one person say it sagged or bent under the weight of the 27" so I am quite hesitant to spend the money on it. I do like that it has a built in USB hub which is a huge plus, I am quite anal about having wires and crap all over my desk, I like things neat, tidy and minimal.

I was hoping maybe more people here had used something like these and could give me more info on it.
