Hi there,

Being relatively new in the MAC environment, this may be a stupid question... but anyhow

When I start up my iMac, after 2-3 days of shut down - it opens a login screen, which I do normally not encounter, when I power up and down regularly.. I log in - no problem - but for some reason it says that no network hardware is installed.. I restart it and it returns to automatic login, going directly to my desktop and network and everything else works beautifully... Question is why do I have to go through this? and is there anyway of working around this.. Pretty annoying having to restart twice...

Thanks for your input and help...

Sorry, I don't know the answer; but until one of our very many boffins responds with what to do -

Don't shut down each time, just put the Mac to sleep either via the Apple Icon in the Toolbar or by Clicking Alt+Cmd+Eject on the keyboard (you can set sleep mode specifics in Preferences - Energy Saver).

Previous voluminous correspondence has pointed up the fact that very many Mac users never shut down or restart unless compelled to.

Sorry I haven't answered your query.

Tech support on the issue..

Thanks Ian..

I stumbled across a few other guys who apparently experienced the same problem.. According to their thread on Apple Support Community their Tech Support is aware of the issue and working to resolve it.. It seems to be a Lion upgrade bug some how..
