I just purchased a new 27" iMac and it has two thunderbolt ports.
I have read that I can connect a second display to my new iMac using thunderbolt.
The display I would like to use is a 24" cinema display that was used with my now replaced Mac G5 tower (Power PC not intel).
First can I do this? If yes, HOW? Which cables or adapters do I need.
The 24" Cinema display is an LCD type and has what looks like two usb inputs on the bck of the display.
Thanks in advance.

Thunderbolt to work as designed requires a thunderbolt cable available only from Apple store. Not sure if the cinema display would work with this cable as the cinema display uses the minidisplay port connection.

The 24" Apple Cinema display should have an attached three in one cable which includes a mini display port connector, Mag Safe, and USB. Plug the mini display port connector into the Thunderbolt port on the new iMac. Plug the USB part of the cable to one of the iMac USB ports. That will power up the three USB ports on the Cinema Display. Don't connect the Mag Safe. (You shouldn't need any additional cables.)

The Thunderbolt port is backward compatible with the Mini Display Port. The cinema display should work OK.
