I have an iMac G5 20" bought new in '04 and it was the one of the batch with the defective power supplies (went through two in a year). Having it shipped to the US this week and wondering if I can replace the power supply with a US-spec one here? I was told when I bought it that it could only be used in Japan (100V).

The US power supply will work with your G5 iMac. Apple machines are designed to operate world wide. The only difference is the AC mains power adapter. Since Japan uses the same AC main outlets that we do and for the most part their electronic items for domestic use are rated at 100 - 110 V 50 Hz, most work here in the US without any problem.

I worked in Japan for four years with the US Government and brought back many electronic items that worked fine here in the US.

Regards.

Yeah they will work fine. As long as the holes fit.
