I want to know about the difference between static and a dynamic site and how long does it take to build a website. Is there any benefit in building a site? I need ideas

The benefits depend on what you are doing. Is it a personal site, a business site, for advertising, for servicing clients/friends/family?

Dynamic is always nice because it keeps your site fresh, even if it's just rotating pictures on the front page. Generally static just means that you have to make any updates manually, or that content doesn't change automatically (such as pulling from a database, or using a scripting language to make changes).

If you want people to visit your site, you want to keep it updated so they have a reason to visit it every day.

Static = you write the HTML page, it doesn't change unless you open the file and change it manually.

Dynamic = the page can change automatically, sensitive to:
time (displaying of dates, events, etc)
form submission
url variables
rss/xml feeds (news items, etc)

A website can take an hour to a month or more to build. It depends on how much you want to put into it, and what you expect to get out of it.

The internet reaches more people than any other media form on the planet. So long as you can find a way to get people to look at your site, you have an audience 50 x as big as any superbowl audience, at a cost of a few hundred bucks a year.

If you get it right, your website is like a permanent advert for your business.

If you get it wrong . . . it's a big 'don't go there'.

You should plan it carefully.
