    FTP can login
If I open windows xp and type in the ftp address, I can get into my ftp and change/delete whatever i want. If I try it in OSX, I get a "files cannot be modified" error. I have gone into system prefs and allowed basically everything I could imagine that could be blocking it and still nothing. Any ideas?

Where are you typing it in? You can download using most web browsers, but if you want to change/delete etc then you'll need an ftp program like Rob linked you to. I personally like Transmit and Fetch.
