I'm gonna start a website for my band. We are pro, tour around RI area. Anyway we need a site that is awesome....However my ability to create websites is minimal. Are there any programs that are good for a novice who wants a great looking site?

Is .mac any good? Anyone have a .mac website that is truly great?

Unless you are using the .Mac templates there isn't really anything special about .Mac hosting. .Mac can host webpages that are made in any application.

I would suggest getting a domain name and hosting cheap from a place like godaddy.com or dreamhost.com, having a site like BANDNAME.com is a lot better than homepage.mac.com/BANDNAME as far as getting hits goes.

I have to agree. While I have .Mac I also use all the rest of the components. If you are only getting .Mac for the hosting, you'll actually save money and get more features by getting a plan with Dreamhost.

Agreed, if you're getting .mac anyway - the hosting bit is nice. Otherwise look elsewhere.

I am also on the side of get your own domain name... bandname.com is the best way to go... I make most of my webpages in photoshop if you have that then I put the text in dreamweaver... that is what I do with my hobby of making webpages.. I am sorry but I do not know of any free software that is easy to use and I have never tried freeway express... give it a shot and you might like it..

Speaking of that, I have photoshop CS and I never really used it. How exactly to you incorporate it with DW MX 2005?

You divide your page up with guides, send your psds to ImageReady, convert guides to slices and export images/HTML to DW. That's the basic way. Some use layers but I still use tables/cells.
