It's $500 off $1500 price at best buy. Or just pay another $300 for the M1. We know these last a long time. The M1 is unknown how they will last. 3 left at my local store. Plus no tax tomorrow. I5 Say's dedicated graphics card but does not say what it is.

Funny thing is the I3 version is also $999 with $300 off. Who would buy that when this is the same price.

It's for people that only look at price.

As for your original question... No, I wouldn't buy that iMac.

Buy the M1 iMac. Apple Intel Macs are no longer being produced and there will come a time that all new software will be for the Apple Silicon machines. Spend the extra $300, you won't regret it.

Have to agree. Especially for folks who tend to keep their Macs for a while before replacing/upgrading their Macs.

Even considering the I5 has a dedicated graphics card?

No rush now, all the M1's are on back order, at Best Buy anyway. I think the M1 is the right choice.

Normally I would say go for the dedicated graphic card. The problem essentially boils down to this: Apple has not only announced their intention to move away from Intel chips, but they're already a year into that transition. Software support will start to dwindle as the years go by. Not a big issue if you replace your Macs often, but otherwise it could be an issue for long term use.

Then, that depends on what you are going to use it for.

I think this looks like it could be the one you're considering,

SSD, not fusion. 6 core.

Congrats. I think you're going to like that choice. Be sure to post back and let us know what you think after you've had a few days to put the machine through its paces.

Decided to go all in with Apple. I just ordered the 10" Ipad through my wireless carrier. I will replace my PC laptop with this.

No argument here.;)

Not that Apple is always the best...but if you like the experience of the macOS & iOS...and like how most of the time everything "just works"...Apple is a good choice!:)
