Wireless printing from I-Phone

I just purchased a wireless printer (Canon Pixma printer) that is wireless and MAC compatible. The wireless from the laptoc works fine. But what do I have to download in order that my I Phone will recognize it?

We recently bought and connected a Canon Pixma printer to our Airport Express and then just used our iPads (running iOs 7.1.2) to print, and when the printer was recognized, they just printed to the new printer.

I don't even recall any software being downloaded or installed, just like all the info I had read said.
