I've read 750 gb in some places and 1 tb in others so I'm kind of confused.

I currently have a 500gb and would like to max out the HD space for my MBP. It's an early 2011 model. 15 inch.

ANY help would be appreciated. I believe the HD needs to be 2.5 inches. I just want to replace the HD I already have in it, not looking to remove the optical bay or anything.

Currently the only limits are that it is a 2.5" hard drive and no more than 9.5mm deep. Apple limits on capacity relate to the technology that was available from when your MBP was a current product.

The Samsung Spinpoint M9T 1.5TB and 2TB 5400 rpm drives are 9.5mm thick and will fit, as will any current 750GB or 1TB 2.5" drives.
