deep-blue: if 32-bit architecture allows 4GB, how come the PowerMac G4 MDD supports only 2GB, though it has 4 slots, and can take 1GB sticks, which are fully recognised? My actual config is 1x512MB plus 2x256MB. I once had a 1GB stick from a friend, for testing, and after putting it in, it recognized the full 2GB of memory. Unfortunately, I couldn't test a config exceeding 2GB, by lack of memory modules... But concerning the PowerBook, you're right, only the 12" has 256MB on board, so the maximum for 15" and 17" would be 2GB (which seems to be the maximum for a G4 anyway).
