Hello everyone. I just plugged in my external hard drive today to do a Time Machine backup for the first time in months. It kept saying "preparing items" and it got stuck at a specific number (around 229,784 I think). I deleted the preferences file com.apple.TimeMachine.plist (as per the instructions on this page: Time Machine - Troubleshooting A4. Full Reset of Time Machine). Now it is no longer stuck at that number—however, it's still taking a really long time to scan my hard drive. I began scanning around 3:45 PM, and it is now eight hours later. It's not stuck, it's just taking forever. I downloaded Time Machine Buddy (TIME MACHINE BUDDY) to look at the log, and it says "Node requires deep traversal." I also keep getting "Error (256)." Does anybody know what on earth is going on? Should I just wait this out? Thanks.
