I have been using a regular seagate 1TB, FAT32 formatted for my time machine backup and never had a problem. I am not sure if there is a better/recommended option to set up a new time machine at work.
Shall I do anything different this time?

Are you sure of that? Time Machine will not backup to anything other than a HFS+ formatted drive. FAT and NTFS formats are rejected by Time Machine.

It shouldn't matter what drive you use, just format the drive, as chscag mentioned above.

well...may be I am wrong....but I have set up Time Machine on seagate....It's been 4 years....that's what I thought I did since that's the only drive I can use for both MAC and PC.
