I had a problem like this a few months ago and I was able to get it working again with Apple - I can't remember what fixed it. I recently had the same problem where it was stalling at certain points. I got a new TC and it backed up overnight and worked, but then the subsequent backups are stalling. I erased the HD, reinstalled the OS and restored from the last backup, but not working.
I noticed that mail search wasn't working properly, so I'm currently reindexing spotlight. I also use ipvainsh IP blocker, but tried turning that off and it still wasn't fast. I also tried connecting the computer right to the back of the TC, but nothing worked. Any ideas?
