Suppose you start by telling us what Devices are involved, with their specs as well, please.
Then give us a clue as to what you are trying to achieve eg transfer of data, connection to another display or to a sound system or another Apple Device..........

The fastest way of connecting an internet connection from modem to computer is via an Ethernet cable.
