Is there an app or utility for testing your in-house WIFI speed?
By this I mean testing the speed of the wireless link between you Mac and your wireless router.

The utilities I am finding all measure upload/download speed to your ISP server.

I don't think that's the right tool here. The OP is seems to want to test his internal network rather than the speed his internet provider.

What really is the point of testing an in home network speed? The speed that matters is what you're getting up and down from your ISP, not what the speed is from your router to your computer.

That's the common test yes. But that doesn't matter at all if what you're doing is within the bounds of your own network.

E.g. If you're copying files across your network it helps diagnose slowdowns etc. All my video work is done on my Mac and copied to a NAS drive. If you're getting poor internal speeds it can make a huge difference when you're copying 5-10gb files around.

But even for everyday use, some wireless devices, bridges, repeaters, hotspots, etc are slower than others. Being able to test the internal network speeds helps isolate the issue.

It is traditionally accepted that your in-house speed is greater than your ISP speed, so people focus on the ISP speeds. You can usually look at your WiFi signal strength to see how you are doing.

Makes sense. Thanks "mrplow".
