Screen protectors

I bought a glass screen protector made in China some years ago for my iPad Air 1. It cracked and I tried to remove it from the bottom edge but all I did was to apparently damage the screen itself.

Because some apps wouldn’t work because the iOS was too old I decided to upgrade. I tried using my IFIX iOpener and managed to free the screen protector edge. When I pulled showers of powdered glass flew off. This means that, although it did the job and the screen underneath is pristine, it is a rather hazardous product.

Glass potentially provides better protection than plastic but does anybody know a possibly more expensive but safer product? Although they are also made in China Anker products seem to be good. My extra long Anker lightning lead has outlasted most others including genuine Apple ones for example.

I have used these Spigen glass protectors on all phones in my family for a while and they are great.

The couple of times that the phones have been dropped, the damage is only to the protector. More importantly, the screen had the cracks, but stayed intact. Furthermore, I could grab the corner and remove it from the phone with nothing left over.

The glass protectors should go onto the device's screens more like a window tint on a car, it shouldn't go on with any sort of glue or sticky substances. If it does, you don't want that!

Thanks. Unfortunately Spigen don’t seem to do protectors for the iPad Air 2. The only ones available do use adhesive.

Well if Spigen doesn't make it, search around, but definitely avoid any that use an adhesive. Also, in the US malls, there are small kiosks that do everything for mobile devices from replacing broken screens to putting on screen protectors. Assuming you have something similar in the UK, you might want to visit them to put something on that works without adhesive.
