I'm on the brink of my first mac purchase, and will be making another trip to the Apple store in Novi, MI on Monday. I've seen how much brighter the 24" imac is when sitting next to the 20". I can't really afford the 24" (not that I can "afford" the 20" when it comes down to it), but it looks SO much better than the 20". It's glorious. I guess what I'm wondering is WHY the difference? I'm using a Compaq monitor right now & it seems plenty bright & sharp. Is the 24" brighter than most screens out there, period, or is it just much brighter than the rest of the imacs? Maybe this is a vague type of question, but seeing that 24" beauty makes me wonder what a screen is "supposed" to look like. Any constructive comments are welcome. P.S. I think I may just go with a macbook as my first foray into apple & look to replace my current PC later in the year (3+ year old Compaq with a few upgrades along the way). Thanks, Jeff
