Hi, can anyone advise on the ease/difficulty of installing Windows to run alongside macOS?

The current specifications of my Mid2011 Imac are a 1TB SSD, 12GB RAM, 2.7GHz i5 processor, and an AMD Radeon HD 6770M with 512MB memory. Additionally, there are three installed WiFi dongles for improved WiFi connectivity.

1. If achievable can you advise the simple steps.

2. Are there any cons to doing this?

3. What is the cheapest way to get Windows, Excel, Word, etc. in the UK market?

4. Any better suggestions?

thanks all

Bootcamp is how you install Windows. It should be easy with a licensed copy of Windows. You will need to purchase O365 to get the Office suite.

Running Windows alongside macOS is totally doable with Bootcamp. It can guide you through the installation process.

As for cons, it can be a bit of a resource hog. You're essentially running two operating systems, so it might slow things down a bit. But with your specs, you should be okay.

For getting Windows and Office on a budget, you could look for a student or nonprofit discount if that applies to you. Remember, you'll need a licensed copy of Windows and likely a subscription to Office 365 to get Excel, Word, and the rest.

Alternatively, you could use a virtual machine like Parallels if you don't want to reboot every time you switch OS. But this comes with its own costs and performance considerations.
