Replaced Late 2009 iMac drive, fan noise

I'm aware of the issue with the thermal sensor, so I replaced the original 500GB WD "Caviar Blue" drive with what I thought was the modern equivalent, WD "Blue" in the 1TB size. However, I have the dreaded loud fan. Did I choose the wrong replacement drive?

Here's the replacement hard drive kit from macsales.com for 2009-2010 iMac's. As you can see…they include the special cable necessary to avoid fan issues.

Or just use a fan control and I've found Macs Fan Control to be excellent even though I haven't replaced the original HDD in my 2011 27" iMac — at least not yet!!
