Whilst ripping my cd collection onto i-tunes, several times with a few cd's - cd's that had been cleaned I should add, it got half way through importing and would then get stuck on a track halfway. After patiently listening to the cd drive start up and slow down and starting at that horrible, nasty rainbow circle I tried every way possible to abort but my MBP was determined to burn that cd. As much as I appreciated it's determination to please, I had other stuff to be getting on with, but instead of giving me a message on the screen saying, 'Sorry mate, I tried my best but I just can't get past this scratch on track 8 but I just can't do it' - it stubbornly carried on until I had to force quit which was also ignored initially until I simply held down the on/off button which I don't like doing. Force quit can't be good for the system, is there another way out when something like this happens? I had a similar problem once with a DVD, it just wouldn't give it back and each time I pressed eject it started to play it again. Fortunately this hasn't happened for a while but when there's a disc in there you want spat out and it won't give it, there's not a ot you can do.
