To contribute something *fairly* useful to the thread: At work I have a HP|compaq. It has two 3.0Ghz Intel P4/HT in it with 2GB of RAM and a nVidia geForce (128mb) card. My 15" Powerbook has *one* 1.67Ghz PowerPC processor, 2GB RAM, and a 128 Radeon 9700. I have to bring my Powerbook to work. The Windows PC is too slow for me. Sure, it can render faster, but when it's done rendering, Windows usually locks up and I have to wait for 5-10 minutes before touching my computer again. My Powerbook is slower on the rendering side, but is *overall* faster when all is said and done. And it's not like this is a beat down PC, it's brand new and managed by a large IT department, so it's free of all viruses/mal/spyware. [/two cents]
