Posts & PowerMacs NEVER is not quite strong enough a warning when YAHOO! pulls the cached version of the original post with his phone number for all to see... Getting the 1GB of RAM to add to the G5 is one thing, but it's barely going to make a dent in his user experience. Consider that the very bottom of the Geekbench totem poll is a PowerMac G5 (1000), even with a decent video card it's a crapshoot as to whether or not it's time to start looking at MacMinis as a viable alternative. Spend another how much to get an OS that's BARELY still alive - it's no exaggeration. Only OS X 10.5.x updates, security updates, iTunes, Safari and Microsoft Office 2008 and lower are going to get serious treatment anymore. The latest Security Update came on July 9, 2011 - along with a Java update... 1.6GHz.... hmmmm… 10.4.x is dead. Using it is an open invitation to whatever security holes that cannot be patched. I'm sorry. But it's just a bad investment all around. I've got a PowerMac G4 MDD and I've already written it's obituary. It's just a matter of time...
