A couple things from one who recently switched.. I too am a long time PC user - more years than I want to admit. 1) OSX (BSD Unix) has no registry or anything that resembles that piece of %$#@. Application and OS configuration is done via flat files. 2) uninstall - you simply delete the programs installation directory. 3) AV - hahahahahahaha - really no need 4) AND the BEST and most awsome feature is a non apple product - VMware Fusion. This tool lets you run a virtual windows machine (completly sandboxed) with full interaction to the OSX desktop - start button, the whole thing. No dual boot, real simple and elegant. It also comes with the tool to do a PtoV (physical to Virtual) of your old PC(s) - programs, data, registry everything.... Absolutly seamless. 5) because Apple engineers their own hardware and are obsessive about things like performance - you will have very few hardware issues. It is literally plug and play on steroids. My IMAC has no fan - it doesnt need one because the entire package was engineered not to need one. Between VMware and OSX, there is not a single application from the old Windoz world I cannot run on my MAC.
