Hi,

I'm new to MAC computers. I'm planning to get the new iMAC. Is it good enough for editing videos?

Advise please. Thanks.

Your Mac's Specs
i7 iMac; 8gb DDR3 ram; ati mobility 4850; 1tb seagate harddrive @7200rpm
There's no real answer, really. It's all opinion-based.
But ya I'd say it's more than good enough.

Hi,

Ok, all opinion based. Hoping to hear more opinions.

Just to add, I will be editing at least 1.5 hours of video, planning to use Final Cut or Premier.

hello

Hello this is what I have
Imac 20-Inch 2.16GHZ
2 Gb SDRAM
250 GB / ATI X1600 256MB / with final cut express. so basically the old model. I never had any problems doing video editing. My daughters is doing a lot more editing as she loves this computer. The new new mac i thick is a 2.4 ghz. so you should be more than good. Make sure that you get some ramm for it. we got back infort with multiple applications. Hope this helps. By the way I'm ordering a new computer today

followup Question--

Hi,

I'm still thinking what to get. What I also need to do with the Mac is this. I will be buying two DV Cameras. Connect it to the Mac then use one of this software to capture the videos (live and/or recorded).

www.varasoftware.com
www.bigmugsoftware.com

I will use this software instead of a hardware DV switcher.

Maybe use Final Cut Pro Studio if possible.

Please help, suggestions are highly welcome.

Regards,

Edward
