[QUOTE="cowasaki, post: 584913, member: 36098"] Right, the full process for making sure that a leopard machine is in the right workgroup and connects correctly to your router and on to your network is as follows: 1) Open system preferences > Network. 2) Click on the network connection that you are using. 3) At the top of the screen where it says location "automatic" click the up/down arrow and select "edit locations". 4) Click "+" and type in the name of your workgroup. 5) When the pop-up closes click "Advanced" near the bottom right of the Network window. 6) Click on the "DNS" tab. 7) Click on the "+" under DNS servers and add the IP address of your router. 8) Click on the "+" under Search Domains and type your workgroup name. 9) Click on the "WINS" tab. 10) In the "workgroup" field either select or type your workgroup. 11) Click "APPLY" 12) Click the back arrow at the top left of the Network window and say yes to save the changes. 13) Now open the Sharing window by clicking on it. 14) Type your computer name into the box at the top labelled "Computer Name". 15) In the left-hand pane click "File sharing". 16) You can now select which folders to share and which users can do what... 17) In the left-hand pane click "Printer sharing". 18) You can now select which printers to share. At this point you will be on the correct workgroup and other computers will see you on the network. You will also see them. Additionally if you wish to share folders on windows computers and want the shares to come back each time you switch on follow these instructions. 1) Locate the share on the windows/linux/apple computer and establish this share. 2) Goto Preferences>Accounts. 3) Click on your account. 4) In the right-hand pane click on "Login Items". 5) Click on the "+" under the list of items then select the share from the list and click "ADD" Anyone any further questions just ask! I am sharing 3 macbooks, 1 ibook, 1 mac mini, 1 mac pro, 1 windows XP laptop, 2 XP computers, 2 Vista computers, 1 Fedora linux computer and 1 fedora linux server!!!
