My current MacBook Pro is from 2012. Still works fine, but the battery only lasts around 3 hours now. I can play games fine, but want to start streaming on twitch. I actually can stream now, but the game stutters a little and I can hear the computer fan go full blast (always afraid its about to explode lol).
If I were to just get a newer mac from this year, would that be enough to stream and play games smoothly? I can't recall if I've ever seen a gamer use a mac, usually just PC/custom built stuff.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

I think gaming performance depends on what games you're playing...some are definitely more CPU & GPU intensive than others. I would definitely recommend a MacBook Pro with a dedicated GPU for better performance...only the more expensive 15" and 16" MacBook Pro's have dedicated GPU's.

Also...playing demanding games on battery power is not the best idea...since your battery will drain pretty quickly (new or old battery).

If you are serious about gaming, you should go the gaming rig route and not a laptop and Mac for sure.

Oh it's plugged in when I play games. I just meant the battery is old because it's from 2012.

I just do it for fun. Something that can handle Warcraft and streaming it for example.
