Nationwide emergency alert test today. I didn't receive it. It must have been turned off at some point.
I can't find the setting/s to turn such alerts on. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks...

No settings, AFAIK. If you didn't receive it, your cell provider didn't relay it. Contact them about it.

Do you get notifications for anything? Mail, Messages, etc? Do you use Focus? Is the volume up on the iPhone? Is the silence switch on the side set to silent? The test was supposed to penetrate through all settings to be heard, but who knows?

Yes to all but, I have no idea what Focus is 🤔

I'm in the UK so the settings on my iPhone may differ from yours, as maybe the method of distributing the Emergency Alerts.

On my iPhone - Settings > Notifications > Scroll to the very bottom > "Extreme Alerts" and "Severe Alerts" should be switched ON.

Hope that might help you despite our different situations.

Mrs. Slydude and I got it on our Apple Watches and iPhones (13 and 14 series models with current iOS). The only devices we didn't get it on were our iPads which were powered down at the time.

We are also on Verizon.

My wife got it. Same provider - Verizon.

That's a bit of a bummer I guess if it had been a real emergency, your wife lives, you die.

Tough break. Sorry. ;-)

Reminds me a short while ag when we were sitting in a large packed restaurant and an emergency cell phone alarm went off.
Pretty much every customer there had a cell phone - talk about the initial confusion until people figured out what it was.

Under Notifcations -> Scroll to the bottom. Emergency Alerts can be turned on or off. Make sure it is turned on if you want to receive them. Also I would turn on Public Safety Alerts too.

Mine went off even though I had my phone silenced. I knew it was coming but I still swerved all over the road when it went off. I was really glad no one was around me on the road - especially a police person! My phone may have been silenced but it was loud and clear through car play and my car speakers.

Lisa, I read somewhere that it also bypassed the Emergency Alerts on/off toggle. Or was supposed to. The idea is that EVERYBODY gets it if they have a phone/tablet/tv/radio.

Well I am sure part of the test was for them to see what work and what did not. And for us with our phones we find out the same. Hopefully we will never need it but if we do it does need to work.

Here in the UK, we did get such an Emergency Alert about a year ago; not sure exactly sure when.

But we were able to switch the alert On or Off as I mentioned in Post #11. I guess each country has its own system for communication in such circumstances.
