my mac keeps rejecting discs

can anyone help please my mac 10.6.8 desk top has now decided to reject any disc i insert,

Your post is "way thin" on information. Going to assume you have an older iMac with a slot loading optical drive. It's very possible that the optical drive has failed (busted)…since all disks you insert are ejected.

If you wanted to try one thing. You could try blowing it out with some canned compressed air.

Sounds like it is an older computer and the optical drive has failed. Slot loaders all have a questionable lifetime, in PCs and Macs, so you have done pretty well.
